How to tackle a writer's block?

So while writing an entry for your school newspaper you suddenly realized that your love, your true passion is writing. Great! Continue on this path. You follow this advice and then there lies your first obstacle which many people like to refer as a writer's block.

It doesn't matter if you are a new writer, a professional writer or not a writer, you have, most probably, heard of this term. And this thing is so common that most writers face it everyday. Yes that's right! So in the middle of a beautifully crafted scenario in your romance novel, if you find yourself completely blank, you are not alone.

Firstly, there are numerous articles you will find online on how to tackle this but why I wrote this is to share my own experience.

So first, you need to see what is your writing habit. I like to branch it into two types:

In Inspired Writing, you write only when an idea comes to you. Mostly, in this, writer's block is not a problem because in this case writer just leaves it until they have some idea. The block might be a problem for some of these too and we'll fix it.

In Regular Writing, you create a daily habit of writing with a target amount of chapters or words. And that is why blocks are an obstacle here.

So now that you have figured out what your pattern is, lets troubleshoot:

Case 1: As an inspired writer, what might happen is that while writing an idea down you run out of a way to create a continuation. So whenever you get an idea, never sit down directly to write it, first note it down. And then decide how much you want to write and once everything is figured out, get serious.

If that doesn't work, you can use the case 2 solutions too...

Case 2: As a regular writer, you have a deadline and so there's more pressure. Firstly, loose that pressure. Its your own project. Your personal project, So it doesn't matter how long you take. Now note down the point where you are blocked on a paper page's topmost line. Now write the next big event that you have planned out (I hope you have prepared a very short chronology or summary first) on the last line. Now take a 30 minute break. In this break:

-Eat something

-Play with your pet or family

-Listen to your favorite band (not relaxing music, something energetic in order to get your creative juices working)

-Take a walk outside to get some sunlight and fresh air

-Observe your surroundings

Ring-ring-ring-ring Times up! Get back to writing. Sit on your desk. Look at the topmost line of the page we used and now look at the last. Think like you always do. You should definitely receive a continuation.

This should get your mind working. If it doesn't then your mind just needs rest and it deserves it. Remember, blocks are not diseases, they are state of your mind. It means that mind is incapable of going on for some time and you must give it some rest. Nothing good will come when you force ideas out of your saturated mind. Remember this!

And with this I end today's article. Have a great day, keep writing and Stay Safe!
