The Art of Storytelling! "Something that is fading from the society." Whoever says this is misleading you, trust me I have heard this. When talking about storytelling, it is not only books, novels, novellas etc., it is everything that involves a story. Honestly, nothing in this universe can eradicate the habit of storytelling from humans. Every word someone says, every action they do portrays a story - of their past, of the current state, of their feelings.
No I have not written this blog post just to write philosophical quotes, but clarification is needed. When you search for storytelling online, you get images of books, children reading and...why is that Spiderman reading on his window instead of catching Green Goblin? Such images relate storytelling with only one thing - books! Now you know me, I am not someone who hates books or considers books inferior. In fact, I think highly of books and authors and I myself am an author. But what this is doing is reducing the respect of other medias like movies, comics, series and even story-driven games, among intellectual people. Some might say that these medias already have a lot of exposure and they don't need such treatment, but every thing deserves respect by all.
Surely, this is someone's own feeling and choice to respect or like something but if your choices are altered by thinking of other people - then that is wrong. Finally I came to the point of this blog:
"LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE"
The reading community, just like all the communities, also has a lot of toxic people. These people don't respect other mediums only because they say they are part of the reading community. But in reality, this is partisanship and no community wants this.
The ultimate message of this post is that your liking must not be affected by what others say or think. If anyone tells you that your favorite movie is trash and its book is much better while you feel otherwise, your loyalty to your interest must stay unaltered. Because your interest is yours, the person who is criticizing is not you. He/She has no right to tell you what is right for you.
Story, in any form, is story. Stories are man's need. They fuel the soul and prejudicing any of its form is disrespect of tales everywhere and in all forms.
That ends this blog, thanks for reading till the end!
Have a nice and productive day and Stay Safe!
PS: I swear I was not with any fight with someone on Reddit while writing this. I just wanted to try something different and end this practice of the toxic readers.
Sorry if this hurts the sentiments of any person. I am just sharing my opinion.
